Calledon’spool was used for therapeutic exercise and swimming. The first public indoor swimming pool was built by Major Percy Bushby in Richmond, Surrey, England., which opened on September 20, 1854

The first public swimming pool in the United States was built in Boston in 1887.

In 1904, the first Olympic swimming pool was built in America for the Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. It was 50m long and just over 3m deep. The following year, a similar pool opened at Hyde Park Lido in London, England.

The first indoor swimming pool was built in 1909.

While there is evidence of swimming pools being used in ancient Egypt and Rome, the first indoor swimming pool was built in England in 1837. However, this pool was not open to the public. In fact, it was only open to the very wealthy.

The first public indoor swimming pool opened in Manchester, England in 1839. This pool was only for men, however. Women were not allowed to use the pool until 1849.

The first recorded outdoor swimming pool opened in Sydney, Australia in 1837. This pool was also only for men.

In the United States, the first public outdoor swimming pool opened in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1887. The first public indoor swimming pool opened in Detroit, Michigan in 1924.

The first above-ground swimming pool was built in 1912.

It was invented by an American, inventor and entrepreneur JohnavanDeckert. He started the first above-ground pool manufacturingcompany, called Royal Swimming Pools.
